Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers arrived on scene, and assisted in taking the suspect into custody. The suspect truck was pinned between the median wire and the patrol vehicle. The vehicle turned left into the median, made another left turn, and then pulled into the path of the passing patrol car. The vehicle abruptly stopped in the middle of the roadway, causing the Officer to take evasive action to avoid an accident. The truck then accelerated to speeds above 100 MPH, while straddling the center lanes, slowing down, and speeding back up. The vehicle travelled off the right side of the roadway, travelled into a ditch, and then continued east onto Highway 40. Sweet Springs Police observed the vehicle make traffic violations and fail to maintain the right half of the roadway. The vehicle was a white 2017 Dodge Ram, and was the same vehicle reported stolen. According to the probable cause statement, Sweet Springs Police saw a vehicle driving suspiciously. The suspect vehicle was located and recovered in Saline County later that evening. Law enforcement was able to identify the suspect vehicle and driver from a stolen vehicle report in Johnson County. They were able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle and the driver.
